Manage Users

Each user is assigned a Role that determines what they have access to in the system, and how they can interact with content in the system. There are built-in tools that allow Users to self-manage their accounts including the ability to register themselves in the system, reset their password, and update properties of their account.

Create a New User

Description

Email

Email address for the user, which is used to login

Password

Enter a password or click the Generate Password button to have the system generate a password

First Name

User First Name

Last Name

User Last Name

The Role a user will have

Create a User Attribute

If you would like to collect additional data about each User, you can add a User Attribute. User Attributes are added from the Site page.

User Property

Description

Title

The User Attribute Title is how this attribute appears on the Manage User Page

Type

The type of data to be added – text, checkbox etc.

DataList

Choose the datalist associated with the attribute

User Attribute Required

Check this box if this attribute will be required when a new user is added or an existing user is updated

User Attribute Sortable

Click this box if this attribute is sortable in the users list

Attribute editable by User

Check this box if this property will appear on the My Account page, allowing a user to edit it for her own account

Find a User

As your Nestor Installation usage grows, your User lists will become larger. We’ve added a few tools to help you navigate your User Population.

Search

You can use the Search feature to search on First Name, Last Name, or any custom User Attribute of type Text.

Filter

User the Filter feature to find Users by Role.

Masquerade

As you are testing the access controls you configure on the site, it’s helpful to be able to see what a User of a certain Role will actually see when viewing the site. You can use the Masquerade feature to do this without having to log into the site as different users.
